I think an incentive for printing less is a great idea. Maybe a cache of selections, like picking out prizes at the arcade. Jump drives, pens or accessories. Some people aren't going to care no matter what, but some people will have fun earning prizes.

"Like picking out prizes at the arcade. Jump drives, pens or accessories. "I think this is a cool idea! We could give them the choice of what they want! Maybe we could talk to the tech guys and if the semester comes to a close, they haven't used the apportioned amount of their print quote, they get an automated message telling them to report to the library for a prize! I was reading a library listserve and the idea of giving away jump drives to save on printing with paper came up. I thought of those free drives the VP gave out at the beginning of the Fall semester. I wonder if they have any left that the Library could use.

"I wonder if they have any left that the Library could use."That's interesting- even if they don't have any left, we could inquire as to the cost of buying so many in bulk. If I recall, they didn't have a ton of storage space, but the fact that we're rewarding good behavior may overshadow that. Do you find this valuable? |
